5 Signs that hint you should Quit your Job

When should you consider to Call it Quits?

Many able talents being unhappy at their positions, moaning, groaning and complaining about their work almost every day.  Gradually, negative energy drags them into an emotional spiral that affect other parts of their lives.

Indeed, we should try our best to face our challenges.  However, we should not stay stuck in denial about situations we cannot change.

Here are 5 signs that prompt you to take more proactive measures about your career.  Do yourself justice.  Don’t wait till crisis hits to consider a new direction:

Sign #1: You’re emotionally suffering – depressed, bored – almost every day at work.

Do you feel dragged going to work?  Do you feel unhappy, bored, misunderstood and mistreated?
Be true to your feelings.  You don’t have to be miserable to earn a gainful employment.  And don’t let your work affect your health, happiness and well-being.

Sign #2: You’re suffering from the malpractice and injustice of your company.

Despite the effort you put behind your work, you may not be able to change the toxic environment around you.  For example, leadership, bosses and colleagues who are obsessed with their own power and vanity, causing the company to suffer; management and human resources policies that care the least about their employees; or simply a lack of collaborative spirit and growth-inducing behaviours.

Sign #3: The skills required is a misfit of what you’re good at.

We are all born unique with natural talents and abilities that we enjoy using.   Blessed are those who are able to use these natural skills on their day-to-day work.  Some of you may be using mainly your trained skills instead of your natural ones.  As long as you are comfortable, this is fine.

However, if your job has evolved to force you use skills that you don’t feel enjoyable or easy for you.  You’ve tried but you feel drained every day in your job.  You should then try asking for a change within your company.  Or else, consider making a move.

Sign #4: You’re ashamed of your company’s output.

To many, having a sense of value at work is important.   Are you spending your time and effort on something that you feel is worth your life energy?  Or are you embarrassed of the sub-standard products and services your company produces?  Do you think your company’s practice is unethical?

It’ll be difficult for you to succeed if you don’t believe in what your organization is putting out in the world.   If you can’t make yourself feel part of the team, look elsewhere.

Sign #5: You believe you’re meant to be for something bigger and better.

Some people are afraid of making changes.  They feel ashamed to admit they are made for better things than their current role.  They’d rather give in to the fear of change than to proactively look for ways to upkeep their work passion.   Their incentive for growth decreases.  They become less competitive as time goes.

Be sensitive to your feelings, and remember there’s no harm exploring.
